Overview

This policy explains what gramstocups.io ("we") collects when you use the website, why, and the choices you have.

What we collect

Conversions, typed recipes, scaling and your local recipe library work in your browser without an account. Photo scans need a verified email account. Recipe link imports also work without signing in, through a guest account your browser creates by itself, with no name or email.

• Account details: an account ID and, if you sign in, your email address
• When you use features, and your subscription details, so we can apply allowances and stop abuse
• Recipes you choose to save to your account
• Basic usage information: browser, operating system, pages visited, the referring website and your country or region

On your device

Your browser stores your preferences, saved recipes, custom ingredient densities and recipe tags, and keeps you signed in. Local saves stay on your device, in the Recipe box. Export your recipe library before clearing browser data or changing devices.

How we use it

• To provide and improve the conversion tools and your account
• To understand how the site is used
• To keep the site working and fix problems

Photo scans and recipe links

When you scan a photo on the website, it is sent through our server to OpenAI or Anthropic to read the recipe. The installed apps currently use OpenAI. We never keep the photo you scan. The provider may keep data for a limited time for security and abuse checks. Only scan images you have permission to use, and leave out private information that is not part of a recipe or label.

A recipe saved with a photo on the earlier version of this site keeps that photo, privately, until you delete the recipe or your account.

When you import a recipe link, our server fetches that public page. The website sees a request from our server, never your account details.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information for money. We share it only with:

• Hosting and analytics providers that run the site
• Sign-in, email and database providers that hold your account and saved recipes
• An AI provider, when you scan a photo
• Our payment provider, which receives your account email and a checkout reference. It handles your card details; we never see them
• An error-monitoring service. Recipe images and ingredient text are not meant to be included
• Advertising partners, when ads are shown, as described below

These providers may handle data under their own policies, and may process it outside your country.

Cookies and ads

We may use cookies and similar technologies for analytics. Free pages may show ads. Third-party advertising vendors may use cookies to show you ads based on your visits to this and other websites. They may also collect your IP address, device and browser identifiers, and which ads you see or click, to show and measure ads and prevent fraud.

To opt out of personalised ads, use the Do not sell or share switch below or, where shown, the consent message. You can also block cookies in your browser settings, and opt out with many advertising companies on the industry opt-out page. Ads may still appear, and non-personalised ads can still use cookies for reporting, limiting repeats and preventing fraud.

Where the law requires consent, such as in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, we ask before showing ads that need it, and you can change your choice in the consent message.

Your Privacy Choices: Do Not Sell or Share

Some US state laws treat personalised ads as selling or sharing personal information. You can opt out on this browser below, and we treat a Global Privacy Control signal as an opt-out. Opting out keeps the ads but makes them non-personalised. Plus members see no ads.

How long we keep it

Local recipes stay until you remove them from the Recipe box or clear your browser data. Recipes saved to your account, and any photos saved with them, stay until you choose Remove from account; clearing browser data does not delete them. We keep account and billing records while we need them to run your account, prevent abuse and meet payment obligations.

Your choices

Email support@gramstocups.io to see, correct or delete your account data. Sign out on shared devices. Clearing browser data does not cancel a subscription; cancel it as the billing terms describe.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect your data, but no online service is completely secure.

Children

The site is not meant for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and update the date above.
